Thebaid -- [thee'-bey-id] The "Thebaid" or Thebais (Greek: Θηβαΐς or Θηβαΐδα) is the region of ancient Egypt containing the thirteen southernmost nomes of Upper Egypt, from Abydos to Aswan.
